Ian Thompson

Ian is a Director of Economic Insight, specialising in matters of competition litigation and economic regulation.  He carefully blends economic theory and empirical analysis to provide clients with clear and robust advice.

Since joining Economic Insight shortly after it was founded, Ian has developed a deep track-record of helping clients achieve successful outcomes, through his high quality and considered advice.  He leads projects on competition litigation; commercial litigation; price controls; mergers; market investigations; and public policy issues.  He is relied upon as an expert witness in major and high value litigation cases; and to help shape the economic regulation of infrastructure and utilities sectors.

In addition to his role at Economic Insight, Ian sits on an advisory panel for a charity and is a member of the Economic and Social Research Council’s assessor college.
